Robert Duff is a graduate of Trinity University, in San Antonio Texas, having obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics in 1969. After a nine year career in banking he and three other businessmen formed Landmark Industries doing business as Timewise Food Stores.

Landmark started the business with one store in Hempstead Texas, and ultimately operated stores all over Texas from its Houston base. The four founders operated the convenience store chain for 40 years and grew the company to approximately 275 stores.

Robert's Duties during the 40 years of operations included banking, taxes, insurance/risk management, ATMs, lottery, and governmental compliance. Managing the company’s different aspects of insurance became more and more of a responsibility as the company grew.

Ultimately, Robert managed the insurance department for the company. Timewise Food Stores was ultimately sold to Shell and Exxon in 2022 and 2023, two of the largest gas companies in the world. Landmark Industries remains as a property management and development company.
